Cody and Patsy Ritchie, dedicated University of Arizona supporters, have made a gift commitment of $1 million to Arizona Athletics toward the Wildcat Scholarship Fund and program enhancements for Arizona Football, as well as Arizona Men's and Women's Golf. Half of the gift will go toward the Wildcat Scholarship Fund, which helps provide room, board, books, fees and meals for Arizona student-athletes.

The gift creates an innovative partnership between the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the Strategic Alternative Learning Techniques, or SALT, Center. The partnership is the first of its kind at the university and makes it possible for a larger and broader population of students to benefit from the SALT Center's nationally recognized model of support for students who learn differently.

College of Engineering graduate Dylan Taylor is funding the Patrick R. Taylor Endowed Department Leadership Chair to honor his father, a renowned expert in metallurgy, materials science and thermal plasma technology. Dylan Taylor hopes the endowment will enable the university and college to recruit an internationally known chair with an extensive background in advanced materials. 

The gift will enable the purchase of an instrument the OSIRIS-REx analysis team will use to help find answers to fundamental questions about the origins of the solar system. The donor, who asked to remain anonymous, also made a second gift to give UArizona students and faculty more time to use the Giant Magellan Telescope when it's completed and begins operations.

When the COVID-19 pandemic began last year, University of Arizona leaders acted quickly to establish a fund to help students facing emergency expenses. Supporters responded through Fuel the Response, the most successful crowdfunding campaign in university history. Now, the Wildcat family is asked to again come to the aid of students who continue to need financial help.

Longtime University of Arizona supporters and volunteers Humberto and Czarina Lopez have given the University of Arizona $3.5 million to establish two endowed chairs, one at the Eller College of Management and one at Sarver Heart Center.

The University of Arizona College of Pharmacy has been awarded a $1.4 million grant from the Flinn Foundation to fund scholarships within a first-of-its-kind dual-degree program offering students the opportunity to simultaneously earn Doctor of Pharmacy and Master of Science in Nursing degrees along with a family nurse practitioner certificate.

A new endowed chair at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix will be funded through the support of friends of the college and a $2 million gift from Dr. Harlan Stone and his late wife, Jean. Stone is a retired surgeon who practiced at Good Samaritan Hospital, which is now Banner – UMC Phoenix.

The scholarship provides students full tuition, fees and on-campus housing for four years, as well as funding for other opportunities such as research projects or study abroad. This is the first time the program has teamed with a school in Arizona.

A Fuel Wonder event on Friday will conclude Giving Day. The program will showcase ways in which gifts are helping students meet their potential and share it with the world.
